The Air

there were flowers

There used to be flowers.

I got up. It’s Sunday. I read New York Mag, which is a strange magazine I never liked much. It looks like it ought to be free. I wouldn’t pay for it. I read the Alec Baldwin description of his recent life.
Transcendia is my cause. It is so Ironic I live in No Airport County. It is good really. The whole conflict is more clarified because I drifted to this place.
It isn’t possible to really understand where you live if you don’t participate in the politics of it.
Political actions are about who gets control of the land. There is a mental landscape. Some people get paid for creating that,: The Mental Landscape.
To be mediocre and cowardly is well stroked. Then there is the entitled hypocrite.

So it is too bad I can’t get through on the phone. I’ve told some people just come and see me. Some people make trouble for me because I stopped giving them everything they want for free. They say they don’t understand. I say sell me your land and then continue to charge me rent? But I had a witness at least.
I don’t got to bars any more.

Still I am here. I have insults that are my favorite insults.
I called someone an asshole the other day. It is about the only insult left you can say to anybody. Alex Baldwin ought to have known that.
The title just right off makes me think of the BiCoastal dilemma. Steely Dan Donald Fagan said somewhere that when they were on the West Coast they missed NYC, and in NYC they missed LA.
Alex Baldwin needs to hear that.
I think he needs me. He could come and visit.

My Father was gay. I know all about lots of it. Powerless people who get a little power and are in the power in the Ghetto are a lesson in power. We didn’t get to ride our bicycles through the South Side to get to the North Side of Chicago because if we tried we would be knocked off and our bikes stolen.
It was a big deal when some of our group of hippies from the South Side made it to the Northside. There were two of them. They were on a moped though.
I got to live on the Southside of Chicago and go to high school there for my Junior year. I am forever grateful to my Uncle Mother and Cousins.
People at church regarded me as underprivileged and gave me a scholarship. I turned that into another scholarship so I was gone from North Carolina for an entire year.

North Carolina has gotten some good press over the past 3 or 4 decades. The population has doubled. It is pretty easy not to really be that close to anybody.

Those of NC who get big success always leave. North Carolina thinks it is great to be the way it is. The good old boy network thrives. The people on the University of North Carolina Board of Trustees are lots of it. They do what they think is right and are pretty classical as sociological exponents of roles.

I feel like we all over are returning to Medieval times.
The people in power look down on us from the Ivory Tower.

You had better pay the tuition. The price goes up.
The reason I feel this way is because where I live and where I have lived have made similar turns. In Rochester Ny now, the main biggest employer is the University of Rochester. That used to be where Kodak was called the Big Yellow Mother and there was Xerox. There were some big unusual buildings downtown.
Now there is a big pit in downtown where they knocked everything over and dug up the center of downtown but didn’t build anything there yet.
There they are discussing filling in the downtown highway system.
I’ve heard of these thing. I’ve not been back.
I stopped traveling in 1999.

I’ve lived in North Carolina and New York and Florida and Chicago and Toronto. I mean lived and worked these places states and towns. Rochester, and NYC and Fort Lauderdale and Greensboro and Wilmington and Raleigh and Eli Whitney and IGX. So it isn’t like I can’t feel things about the mental landscapes.

What now over in Russian and the Ukraine? The Russians and the US need each other to co-operate because only the Russians have space ships to get to the space station, ISS.

Hard to threaten Russia too much about a take-over. Russians are extortionists. Some people joke about the way they do capitalism. I wasted important skills and time and thought in my thirties and even early 40s with Russians. One big bit of business involved a big airplane, and another was about movie distribution.

Howard Coble failed me. I mean there were Canadians that screwed me over too.

“May you have an interesting life.”
I couldn’t make lots of this up.
I can make up Cockroach Head and Waterbear. They are cheery.

About Russell Scott Day

I come from sailors and priests. My aim is to prevent apocalyptic riot, better known as nuclear war, when I was growing up. Creating a nation of airports will create the peace enough environment to prevent apocalyptic riot. I had a vision due to a period of boredom and bliss like the Aleph of Borges. That is the story I learned and was made up and happens.
